Economic Development Benchmark Study
The Mayor's Economic Development and Incentive Task Force met on Wednesday in South Kansas City. The meeting offered the first of six opportunities for the public to offer input in the creation of an economic development policy for the City. At the meeting, task force members were presented with a report detailing the economic development efforts in other cities. It offers an excellent point of reference for our own deliberations.

This is a good report. As a professor with experience on TIF and other economic development incentives, living in St. Louis, I would also recommend that we address state reform of TIF to reduce some of the unnecessarily competitive dynamics we see, especially in retail.
