Auditor's Review of the Budget

In today's meeting of the Council's Finance and Audit Committee, the City Auditor presented his annual review of the submitted budget. To support his presentation, his staff prepared a PowerPoint document, which can be downloaded from the link below.

Today the City Auditor sent the following e-mail to the Mayor and City Council:

During the January 31st Finance and Audit Work Session, a number of the topics discussed were the subject of prior audits. To assist Councilmembers in future deliberations of these issues, I'm providing links to the corresponding audit reports in order of the report's release date below. Recommendations for the Audit Report Tracking System

Mike and Joan on the Policy Analysis Team recommend to the Mayor:

You should encourage the Finance and Audit Committee to re-start the Audit Report Tracking System (ARTS).  Doing so would provide the City Council with a tool to monitor staff efforts to implement audit recommendations and to oversee city programs.  Re-starting the ARTS helps you to address one of your priorities – to help the city council work together to oversee city staff and develop policy.
