The City Auditor presented to the Finance and Audit Committee a scope statement for an audit his office plans to do of the City's pandemic flu preparedness. Along these lines, there's also a fascinating study - at least for someone interested in public health policy - of how well public health interventions worked in the U.S. in 1918. The study looked at responses in 23 cities and found, "San Francisco, St Louis, Milwaukee, and Kansas City had teh msot effective interventions, reducing transmission rates by up to 50 percent."
